I want to write my essay about the quote "There is a time in every man's education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imatation is sucide." I have noticed throughout school, especially as young adults, we are very tempted to try and immitate our counterparts, and to do things in order to fit in. I think this quote applies to my life alot because I even find myself doing it sometimes. In the end though, we all realize that being yourself is better, and that tghe people who embrace their own potential go farther in life and are happier. You can never be another person, and by trying to acheive another persons standards you become unhappy. I just want to write about young adults temptaions to envy and immitate, like we all do, and how it relates to my own lifew with school and friends.

  1. Good idea Brooke. Another quote you could use in there is "Imitation cannot go above its model. The imitator dooms himself to hopeless mediocrity. The inventor did it, because it was natural to him, and so in him it has a charm. In the imitator, something else is natural, and he bereaves himself of his own beauty, to come short of another man's." from the Divinity School Address by Emerson on the third to last page. More about imitation if you need
