Imitation

I think my essay is going to be on how imitation is the best form of flattery. In the perspective of the person who is being copied, it feels really good to have someone be like you. We need people to have role models, so that people try to be better and greater than others. Eventually, brilliant people are formed and accomplish amazing things. It doesn't matter that poeple are the same, because they will transform into better people and go beyond their desires. Imitation is not suicide, and to survive we all have to be one team.

  1. This is a cool idea, I like how you are thinking about contradicitng the ideas. Are you going to ever talk about the bad things that imitations can do, or do you believe imitation can lead to now bad things? It's a great idea so far and i like how you are going to contradict instead of agree!

  3. You should so the other side of the story too. What about people that are always caught up in trying to be like someone else, like a celebrity? Some people spend all there life trying to be like someone else...

  4. Jacqui,

Because we talked about your topic at length, I'll hold off on commenting here, except to note (from the comments above) that there seems to be a lot of interest in seeing someone defend the idea of imitation (or, as we discussed 'emulation') as a legitimate way of improving ourselves. Have some fun with this! But be sure that you have some specific and appropriate examples that will help you develop your case. I'm looking forward to your first draft!
