Transcendentaist Essay!

For my essay i want to write about how our generation has lost the appreciation for the natural beauty around us everyday and night. We don't see the qualities of life like we use to the first time we saw it, nothing is new and exciting. I'm going to use quotes from Emerson, Walden and Mr. Lavender. The quotes will start off my paper and then I'm going to spin off on my own story/topic to get my generation to appreciate the scenery around us.

  1. Emy,

I like that your essay is shaping up to be both an analysis of a current problem (our lack of connection with, or appreciation for Nature) and a call to action (wherein you propose--through reference to your own experience in Nature--a solution, a way to get your generation to reinvest themselves in our natural surrounding). Clearly, all three writers will be useful to you--but as I mentioned in class, be sure to ground your argument in the specific context of your own experience in Nature (and how it has benefited your personally). I'm looking forward to seeing a draft of this!

  2. also, because you're gonna talk about lake powell in your story, you should mention how when you first get there you're like wow. but the next morning you wake up and you don't notice the scenary. then you come back the next summer, any you're first day, you're like wow. then the next day you're oblivious again...it's an endless cycle of appreciation

  3. i really like the your topic. its completely true and a lot of our genereation dont appreciate it as much as they should. it does so much for us and people are not even destroying it now. not long ago people depended on the land and had to survive off nature. great idea em!
